The Annual Conference brings together executive leadership and partners at professional services firms, general counsel, diversity and inclusion professionals, and talent management professionals who share how they have implemented successful strategies in their organizations for retaining and promoting women and supporting work-life control for everyone.

Cultural Innovations with Impact
As business demands evolve, so too do organizational cultures. At the center of those changes are shifts in talent demographics, expectations, and needs. As recipients of the Alliance’s inaugural Flex Impact Award, the panelists will share details on how their innovative flexibility and parental leave initiatives were designed to engage, retain, and advance a diverse workforce. Audience members will also have the opportunity to share their own innovative flexible work ideas and practices that are poised to shift the culture within their organizations.

Corporate America Making Cultural Change
Successful multinational companies understand the business necessity for their workforce to reflect the wants and needs of their multicultural customer base. As a result, many have invested heavily in global change initiatives focused on recruiting a diverse workforce and creating inclusive cultures that value the myriad of ways professionals can do their best work. This session will offer a cross-functional look at how corporations can shift toward more inclusive, organizational cultures, as well as how they influence these changes with the suppliers and professional service organizations they partner with. The panelists will also offer insights on the cultural changes they anticipate and are preparing for on the horizon.

Creating Inclusive Cultures
The responsibility for creating an inclusive culture must be spread throughout an organization’s workforce, but leaders play a pivotal role in achieving that change. Our panel of law firm chairs will discuss how they model the inclusive behaviors they champion, hold others accountable for their firm’s diversity, inclusion, and flexibility commitments, and engage clients in their efforts.
3:00pm
When “Cultural Fit” is Ruining Your Diversity & Recruitment Efforts
Dr. Lauren Rivera will start this session by presenting research from her book, Pedigree: How Elite Students Get Elite Jobs, which examines class bias in hiring in top-tier law firms, investment banks, and management consulting firms. Attendees will then drive an interactive session to explore how the use of on-campus recruiting and cultural fit in hiring can simultaneously prevent professional service firms from diversifying and result in sub-optimal hiring decisions.
