Optimizing Talent: A Conversation with Women Law Firm Chairs

Hear how four women law firm chairs are literally changing the face of leadership in the legal profession. Kimberly Leach Johnson, Chair, Quarles & Brady LLP; Deborah Read, Firmwide Managing Partner, Thompson Hine LLP; Lisa (Lee) SchreterChair, Littler Mendelson P.C; and, Elizabeth Sharrer, Chair, Holland & Hart LLP will share their personal experiences on their paths to leadership.

You’ll hear about the challenges and opportunities they’ve faced, as well as pivotal decisions they’ve made along the way. They’ll also share how they are personally helping to advance women and retain top talent by mentoring and incorporating diversity and flexibility issues into the culture of their organizations.

Solving For the Right Problem: A Global Corporate Perspective

You will leave the second panel, “Solving For the Right Problem: A Global Corporate Perspective,” with a clear understanding of how corporate leaders are approaching the challenges and opportunities of diversity and inclusion internally within their organizations, as well as externally within the law firms they hire.

You will hear the client’s perspective from Sarah Goldfrank, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Single-Family Mortgage Business, Fannie Mae; Nancy Laben, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & Secretary, Booz Allen Hamilton; Richard Meade, Vice President & Chief Legal Officer – International, Prudential Financial; and, Linda Willett, Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.

The panelists will discuss the barriers that have impeded progress and outline steps they have taken to measure and promote diversity, inclusion and flexibility.

They will also provide perspective on their roles in influencing diversity and inclusion within the law firms they hire and how they use data to ensure they are solving for the right internal and external problems.

They’ll share their departments’ experiences with surveying outside counsel on diversity and flexibility and how they hope to benefit from the results.
